Jo Breneger’s professional work as a sign painter crosses over into her artistic practice in this exhibition featuring equine-related art on a variety of media. Jo strives to capture the quiet, sensitive interaction that is felt when humans are around horses, with each work being painted directly onto materials including timber, tin, lino and wallpaper. Jo also works with words and names of places where she is painting, using old bits of buildings and farm ephemera.

The works in Quick and Dirty were done on location 30k north west of Temora on a pastoral farm called Lone Pine. The title of this exhibition Quick and Dirty reflects her experiments in capturing movement, made quickly but with purpose and energy; and the trust required to work in an instinctive way, using a mix of mind and body intelligence after years of using a brush in her commercial work. Quick and Dirty is showing at New England Regional Art Gallery.
